CAT5 was brought to our studio when the project's developer was unable to obtain approvals. Our design reflects a complete makeover that refashions five condominium units from a ‘program-driven’ concept that blends hillside multi-family living with the City of West Hollywood’s green building design program. The project consists of two-story townhomes stacked in order to capture evening views over the renowned Sunset Strip at the base of the hill. The design is characterized by rooftop stair access that influences the external character of its facade.
Bulk in the owner's original design is reduced by dividing mass of the building into smaller scale components using balconies, decks and sunshade elements. Extensive rethinking of the landscaping and circulation allow for more green spaces, canopy trees and efficient water usage.
